If John Mar's 17 years as a chartered accountant have taught him one thing about his clients, it is that when they come to visit they're usually looking for more than help with their taxes.

And that suits Mr. Mar just fine. For despite his impeccable credentials, encyclopedic knowledge of business accounting, and academic credentials, Mr. Mar considers himself primarily a partner and a helping hand.

"I am very hands on with my clients," he explains. "I communicate with them regularly, and provide various forms of financial advice; and I am able to explain complex issues in terms that are easily understandable."

And he prides himself on being able to do this in a way that helps make their lives easier.
